Description

How can you not love NGC 346?

It's a star forming region just over 200 light years across, nestled in our soon-to-be-merged galactic neighbour the Small Magellanic Cloud.

This image has been taken in HSO narrowband, recoloured to highlight some of the interplay between the three main types of emission gasses surrounding this star forming region.

The over abundance of green is a clear indication the colours are complexly false, looking almost like a slightly muted version of the SHO or Hubble palette.

This is/was a one night wonder, made possible due to it's prodigious signal output.

Again, processed entirely in APP.
